Environmental Policy

Elite Moving & Storage is committed to minimising the environmental impact of our removals and storage operations. We recognise our responsibility to protect the environment and operate sustainably. This policy outlines our commitment to environmental best practice and legal compliance.

Our Commitment:

  • Legal Compliance: We are fully committed to complying with all applicable UK environmental legislation and regulations relevant to our removals and storage activities. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Vehicle Emissions: Compliance with all relevant MOT testing requirements, adherence to speed limits to maximise fuel efficiency, and careful consideration of and adherence to Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and Clean Air Zones (CAZ) regulations in all operational areas. Regular vehicle servicing and maintenance schedules will be strictly followed to minimise emissions. We will explore the feasibility of transitioning to alternative fuel vehicles in the future.
    • Hazardous Materials Handling: Strict adherence to regulations concerning the use, storage, and handling of hazardous materials. This includes proper labelling, secure storage, and compliant disposal of any hazardous materials used in our packaging or cleaning supplies. Designated personnel will receive specific training in the handling and disposal of these materials. We will maintain detailed records of all hazardous materials used and disposed of.
    • Noise Pollution Control: Minimising noise pollution during loading, unloading, and other operational activities. This includes using appropriate equipment and techniques to reduce noise levels and adhering to any local noise ordinances. We will investigate quieter equipment options for future investments.
    • Waste Disposal: Responsible disposal of all non-hazardous waste generated during operations, such as cardboard, plastic, and packaging materials. We will prioritise recycling and reuse wherever possible. Waste will be handled by appropriately licensed contractors, with records maintained to demonstrate our duty of care.
    • Planning Permissions & Permits: Full compliance with all relevant planning permissions and environmental permits required for our operations, including any necessary licenses for storage facilities. We will proactively seek clarification from local authorities on any ambiguous requirements.
    • Regulatory Updates: Proactive monitoring of changes in environmental legislation and prompt adaptation of our practices to maintain full compliance. We will engage with relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., the Environment Agency) to seek clarification on compliance requirements and to access guidance on best practices.
  • Pollution Prevention: We strive to prevent and minimise pollution of land, air, and water through responsible vehicle maintenance to reduce emissions and careful handling of packaging materials to prevent spillage or littering. Spill kits will be readily available at all operational locations.

  • Resource Efficiency: We aim to maximise the efficient use of resources. This includes optimising packing methods to minimise materials used, efficient routing to reduce fuel consumption, and reuse of packing materials where possible. We will regularly review and update our packing procedures to further reduce material usage.

  • Employee Training: Our employees receive comprehensive training on environmentally responsible practices, contributing to a company culture focused on sustainability. This training will include specific modules on environmental compliance and will be updated regularly.

  • Transparent Reporting: We regularly monitor and report on our environmental performance internally and to relevant stakeholders as required by law. We will produce an annual environmental report summarizing key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Continuous Improvement: We continuously assess and improve our environmental performance through regular reviews of our operations and the implementation of best practice methods. We will set measurable targets for key environmental metrics.

  • Fuel Efficiency: We maintain a fuel-efficient vehicle fleet and utilise route optimisation software to minimise fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Regular vehicle servicing ensures optimal fuel efficiency. We will explore opportunities to further improve fuel efficiency, such as driver training programs and alternative fuel sources.

  • Sustainable Practices: We actively seek opportunities to incorporate sustainable practices into all aspects of our operations, including the selection of suppliers committed to environmental responsibility and the use of environmentally friendly products whenever feasible. We will prioritise suppliers with strong environmental credentials.
