Removals to Scandinavia from the UK
Elite Moving organises removals to Scandinavia from the UK for families, students and businesses. We collect from your home or office, pack and load, take care of the customs paperwork and deliver to your door in Norway, Sweden or Denmark. We also cover Finland for people who are planning a wider Nordic move. This page explains how a Scandinavian removal works, what is different in each country, and how to choose the right service.
Where we deliver in the Nordic region
Scandinavia is made up of Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Finland is often grouped with them, so we treat the four countries as one route and plan each move around the town you are heading to. Here is where to start for each country:
Norway
Moves to Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim. Read about removals to Norway or our dedicated removals to Norway.
Sweden
Moves to Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. Read about removals to Sweden or our dedicated UK to Sweden service.
Denmark
Moves to Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg. Read about removals to Denmark or our dedicated removals to Denmark.
Finland
Moves to Helsinki and beyond. See removals to Helsinki for how we plan a move to Finland.
Students
Smaller loads for university places. See student removals to Norway and student moves to Denmark.
Businesses
Office moves planned around your working hours. See commercial relocation to Norway and commercial relocation in Sweden.
Moving to Norway
Norway is not in the European Union, so everything you send there is declared to Norwegian customs when it arrives. People who are changing their home to Norway can normally bring their household goods in without paying duty, but customs will want to see an inventory and proof that you are moving your residence. We prepare the inventory with you, check it against what is loaded and make sure it travels with the paperwork.
The country is long and mountainous, and many deliveries involve narrow roads, ferries or steep drives. We plan the final leg with that in mind, so the vehicle that arrives outside your home is the right size for the street. For city moves, see Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim.

Moving to Sweden
Sweden is in the European Union, but the UK is not, so a move from Britain still needs customs paperwork in both directions. The rules for household goods when you move your home are generally friendly, and we help you gather what Swedish customs ask for. This usually includes a signed inventory, your passport and evidence of your new address.
Most Swedish cities have a mix of older apartment blocks and newer buildings. Lifts can be small, courtyards can be tight and some streets need a parking permit for a removal vehicle. Tell us your floor, the lift size and the street, and we will plan the crew and equipment. We deliver to Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, and to smaller towns on request.

Moving to Denmark
Denmark is the closest Scandinavian country to the UK by road, and it is the gateway to the rest of the region. The Great Belt Bridge links the islands, and the Øresund Bridge joins Copenhagen to Sweden, so the road network makes it simple to continue on to Malmö and beyond. For many moves, Denmark is also a convenient place to transfer goods heading further north.
Danish customs treat a UK move like any other move from outside the EU, so an inventory and proof of residence are needed. In Copenhagen, bicycle lanes, cobbled streets and restricted parking mean that access should be checked early. We deliver to Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg.

How your belongings travel north
Most moves to Scandinavia go by road. The vehicle crosses the Channel by ferry or tunnel, drives through Belgium and Germany and then continues to Denmark, Sweden or Norway. For Norway there are also ferry links from the continent, and we choose the route that suits your delivery address. For Finland the journey is longer, and we plan any overnight stops and handovers in advance.
We give you a delivery window when we quote, not a promise made before the route is checked. Dedicated moves, where one vehicle carries only your belongings, are the quickest and the most flexible. Part-load moves share the vehicle with other customers going the same way, which keeps the price down but means the dates depend on the other loads.
Because the journey is long, we pack for it. Furniture is wrapped and strapped, boxes are labelled by room, and fragile items get extra padding. Wardrobes, beds and desks can be taken apart and rebuilt at the other end, which saves space and lowers the risk of damage on the road.

Customs and paperwork after Brexit
Since the UK left the European Union, every removal to Scandinavia is an export from the UK and an import into the destination country. That sounds complicated, but for household goods it is mostly a matter of getting the documents right. We handle the export side, and we guide you through what the destination country will ask for.
The key papers are the same in most cases. A detailed inventory lists what is travelling. Your passport and proof of your new address show that you are moving your home. Some countries also want proof that you owned the goods for a set period before the move. Because each country sets its own rules, we ask you to confirm the details with the local customs authority, and we make sure our paperwork matches.
Some items need extra care. Alcohol, tobacco, food, plants, medicines and weapons are limited or controlled in different ways across the region. Tell us early if any of these are in your load, and we will explain what is allowed. Vehicles, boats and large electrical items also have their own rules, and we can point you to the right office.
Planning around winter and access
Scandinavian winters can bring snow, ice and short days, and these affect removals more than people expect. Roads in the north and in the mountains can close for short periods, and delivery slots can move. If you have a choice, book your move outside the harshest months, and leave a little extra time between delivery and the day you need to be in your new home.
Access matters at both ends. Send us photos of your front door, your stairs and the street if you can. We want to know about lifts, narrow corners, steep drives and anywhere a large vehicle cannot stop. Where it is needed, we arrange a furniture lift or a smaller shuttle vehicle for the last stretch.
It also helps to keep a bag of essentials with you. Pack a few days of clothes, chargers, medicines, important papers and a few basic kitchen items. Then if the delivery date moves, you are still comfortable in your new home.
Packing, storage and cover
You can pack everything yourself, ask us to pack only the fragile items, or hand us the whole job. Our teams bring strong boxes, wrapping and tape, and they label each box so your new home is easy to unpack. Large and valuable items, such as art, instruments and antiques, can be crated on request.
If your new home is not ready, we can store your belongings in the UK or near the delivery address until it is. This is common when a lease starts later than planned, or when a sale is delayed. Ask us about goods in transit cover, so that your belongings are protected for the whole journey. With more than ten years of experience in international removals, we know where problems tend to appear and we plan around them.
Scandinavia removals: common questions
How long does a removal to Scandinavia take?
It depends on the country, the town and the type of move. A dedicated move is the quickest, and Denmark is the closest to the UK. Norway, northern Sweden and Finland take longer. Part-load moves take longer still because the vehicle serves several customers. We give you a delivery window when we quote.
Do I need to pay customs duty on my household goods?
People who are moving their home to Scandinavia can normally bring household goods in without duty, as long as they have the right documents and meet each country's conditions. Rules differ between Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, so we recommend checking with the local customs authority. We prepare the inventory and the export paperwork.
Is Norway different from Sweden and Denmark?
Yes. Norway is outside the European Union, while Sweden, Denmark and Finland are inside it. Because the UK is also outside the EU, every move needs customs paperwork, but the forms and the offices are different in each country. We explain what applies to your destination.
Can you move just a few pieces of furniture?
Yes. A part-load move lets you pay only for the space you use, and it suits a few large items or a small flat. It is usually cheaper than a dedicated vehicle, but the dates are less fixed.
Can you store my things before delivery?
Yes. We can store your belongings if your new home is not ready, and we can deliver when you are. Tell us your likely dates when you ask for a quote.
Do you move students and businesses as well as families?
Yes. We run student moves for people starting at Scandinavian universities, and office moves for businesses that are opening or relocating in the region. Each is planned separately, with its own dates and paperwork.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
I booked Elite as an emergency removal company with just one day’s notice for a full packing service and short-term storage. From start to finish, the service was exceptional.
The team arrived on time, were highly professional, and delivered truly outstanding customer service. My furniture was carefully packed and stored for three days, then re-delivered exactly as promised. On delivery, everything was placed in the correct rooms, and the team dismantled and reassembled beds and furniture efficiently.
Communication throughout was excellent, and all staff were friendly, helpful, and reassuring during what could have been a stressful situation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Elite and would absolutely use them again.
Great service and team. Good attitude and reasonable prices.
We hired them to move goods from a 3 bed in West Sussex to our new home in West Yorkshire literally overnight. No problem for them. There were there punctual at 0600 am and had completed packing and loading by 1230pm. The next day they were in Pontefract by 1130am and finished unloading by 1400pm. Very impressive. No breakages. The team were very friendly and yet very professional too. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional and efficient removals.
Having never used a removal company before or moved any of our furniture, we were quite apprehensive about how it would all go - but all I can say is the team at Elite moving made it so smooth and easy! Everything was done without ANY problems at all, all of our large furniture items were dismantled and re-assembled perfectly and handled with care throughout. Before we knew it, everything was set up in our new home without any damage and they did it all quite quickly. The team were friendly, on time and very accommodating with any requests. I felt the price was reasonable too. Ranjan was always reachable by call or text if we had any questions or needed to make any changes. I would definitely use Elite moving for all of our future moves and recommend them to anyone I know wanting to make their move less stressful! Thank you so much for helping us get set up in our new home, we are very grateful for the amazing service.
Elite Moving were very helpful and willing to work around a difficult setting! Would recommend.
Called in advance to arrange my move and ask questions and all was answered with patience and professionalism. I moved from a studio to a different larger studio and it didn’t take long at all, I’m very happy especially with how they tied down and protected my fragile things with a rope system and blankets inside the van. I had full faith in the team from other reviews, and my expectations were met as staff were caring and friendly and efficient! You can trust elite moving with your precious/fragile belongings, I would highly recommend their services 👍🏽
